SCUT President Yuan Yuan Li Visited Silicon Valley
President Yuan Yuan Li and a delegation of six
members from SCUT attended an international exhibit in Seattle from late May to
early June, 2005. The six members were: Hu Yiwu, Director of the International Office, Wei Gang, Dean of the School of Electronic and Information
Engineering, Li Benxiang, Director of the Science and
Technology Office, He Beihai, Dean of the School of
Resource Science and Paper-Making Engineering, Luo Xuechao, Deputy Dean of the School of E-learning Education,
and Si Jumin, Deputy Dean
of the School of Computer Science and Engineering.
After the international exhibit and before visiting universities in Boston
and New York, President Li and the members of the delegation were invited by
the Board of SCUT Alumni, Silicon Valley to meet with alumni at Dynasty Seafood
Restaurant on 6/4/2005. President Li was excited to tell that SCUT is presently
made up of 29 colleges and has over 52,000 students, including 11,500 master's
degrees candidates and doctoral candidates, 16,600 undergraduates, 11,500
continuing education students, 12,190 on-line education students and more then
100 international students. It accelerates its education reform to build SCUT
into a top-ranking State university and a famous world-class university.
President Li asked the Board extends his regards to all alumni and their
families.
